Everyone’s Talking About It: Trade Unionists Discuss a New and United Ireland

7.30pm on Thursday 17th June

TUNUI hosts well known trade unionists Jack O’Connor, Mick O’Reilly, UNISON Regional Secretary Patricia McKeown and journalist and author Martina Devlin in a discussion about a new and united Ireland. Chaired by TUNUI’s Mags O’Brien, the panel will explore how the trade union movement can play a special role in the ongoing debate about constitutional change.

The panel will discuss lessons learned from other contentious debates within the trade union movement and how they were managed in a spirit of comradeship and cohesion.

Everyone is talking about Irish Unity – and the trade union movement must do the same.

Irish Unity – An Internationalist Demand

7pm on Monday 3rd May

 

We will be marking International Workers’ Day by hosting this online meeting with comrades from around the world.

  • We will be joined by Florian Wilde, who will speak about what lessons we can learn from the reunification of Germany.
  • Claire Delisle from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers and Colleen Boyle from LiUNA will be discuss what the labour movement in North America can do to support for Irish Unity.
  • Larry Flanagan, general secretary of EIS in Scotland, will be discussing the moves towards independence there and what we can learn from the Scottish experience.
  • Jamal Juma, a well known Anti-Apartheid activist, writer and grassroots organiser will be speaking about Palestinian support for Irish independence.
